According to Eve's memoir, she had to FIGHT to have Gwen on this song. Her label thought the collab would not make sense since she was rap and Gwen was pop/punk, and Eve had to reference Run DMC/Aerosmith's "Walk This Way"s success as a huge example of why it could work. Plus, she was a huge no doubt fan and felt like they were kindred spirits because they were both "just a girl" in a band/group full of guys. She said if Gwen would not do it, then she wasn't going to release the song. Fortunately, Gwen loved the concept and jumped on it, and they became good friends and won a Grammy for this HIT song. Kudos to Eve for standing her ground to make history!
Mentally,i'm still in this ERA
Gwen was the only white chick doing gangster stuff without looking fake and ridiculously over-acted
The new generation will never understand how iconic this song is.
this was legit the hottest song on the planet at one time.
