Paradox how music 30 years ago sounded more modern and futuristic than music nowadays

The thing modern listeners dont understand about Prodigy is that nothing sounded like this back then. The 90s was filled with people looking to the future, the year 2000 was getting closer and it seemed so sci fi, so unreal, we were all waiting for that 'new thing', chasing anything that looked different, sounded different, the stuff that would define our generation as the last one, for a thousand years. The Prodigy, didnt disappoint. Dropped this 4 years prior and it was beyond anything we'd ever heard. A punk aesthetic, mixed with harsh computer sounds. It blew our fucking minds and it blew everything else out of the water. Dnb was in its infancy, dubstep didnt exist, all we had was jungle, rave and radio 1 trying to remain current during a paradigm shift. When all you could do was search woolworths and HMV for anything that might cure that itch... Prodigy dropped this absolute banger of an album, and stayed way ahead of the curve for the next decade.... beautiful

RIP Keith. Today a huge part of my childhood died. I was 9 in 94, and I was with my mom in a store and I saw a starnge looking album cover, I asked mom to buy for me and she did, it was Music for the Jilted Generation . Put the casette tape and pressed Play and eveything changed. That year was also the year my father left us, mom was working 12 hours shifts and I was home alone most of the time listeing to music and especially to Prodigy. I remember that while listening to Prodigy and dacing arround the house, those problems were not so bad, I was feeling that it will get better at one point. Thank you Keith for being there for me,
