In college I wrote a paper about how Judas is a stand in for the modern person. He is asking the questions many people would want to ask, and the anger and confusion he emotes make it feel so real. Other performers can sing the role well, but I find Carl's portrayal the most relatable on an emotional level.
Carl Anderson, with his incredible, smoldering intensity, made this whole movie. Rest in peace, & thanks for the gifts you gave, man.
Carl Anderson as Judas is nothing short of spectacular. I've never seen anyone to equal his performance. RIP, Carl.
This musical did more to rehabilitate Judas's image than 2000 years of Biblical scholarship.
Priest here. This musical had a tremendous influence on my faith development while in Seminary. Beautiful storytelling and so truthful in terms of describing doubt and uncertainty( important components to faith)
